Honoring Their Service
I am proud of our family’s contribution to our National security. We come from a family with a lot of military service to our Nation. We honor the service of our family members on this Memorial Day. My husband Larry served during peace time. Although, only one of our family members, Uncle Fermin Rios, made the ultimate sacrifice during WWII, other relatives also served in WWII; Uncles Jose Davila and Erineo Costales, and my Brothers Roman and Erineo Jacquez. Those that served in the Korean War are my Brother Juan Jaquez, Cousins Ramon Costales, Raymundo Costales, Joe Gonzales, Jesus Madrid and Robert Rivera. Those that served during the Vietnam War are Nephews Larry and Albert Jacquez (Purple Heart), Ray Quintana, Ray Moreno, Sam Estrada, Tommy Chavez and Jerry Garcia; Cousins Jimmy and Henry Davila, Bobby Gonzales, Fermin Rios, Manuel Chavez, Tommy Garcia and my Brother-in-law, Saul Garay. Post Vietnam service was rendered by Nephews Joseph Estrada, Jack Boyd and Andy O'Donnell. Cousin Ernie Gonzales Jr., retired from the Air Force. Currently on active duty in Air Force is nephew Emmanuel G. Jacquez, an M.D.

We humble ourselves before God and call upon His protection for our Nation.

Because of You, Unknown Soldier
By Courtney Tanabe

Because of you, I am here
Because of you, I am able to live freely
Yet I do not know you
And I have not done anything for you
But there you stand, ready to fight
And there you are prepared to die
For me
You've fought before
And you'll fight again
For someone you don't know
So thank you Unknown Soldier
Fighting for me
I'm here because of you
And I owe my future to you
Our Shield and our Stronghold.
